Jessica Biel is standing by her husband Justin Timberlake, but not exactly pleased about what’s come to light about his 2024 arrest.
People is reporting that Biel is supporting her husband after footage from his 2024 DWI arrest was released, but made it clear that she is “not happy” about the situation. And, who would be? The footage doesn’t exactly paint Timberlake in the best light, particularly considering his staunch denials that he was intoxicated.
TMZ was the first to release the police body camera footage from Timberlake’s arrest by the Suffolk County Police Department (SCPD) in June 2024.
According to sources, Biel is “not happy about the renewed attention” this has brought to the case. “There’s a reason they pushed back on the footage being released,” the source, noting that Biel finds the arrest “stressful and would prefer to move past it.”
“It obviously doesn’t portray him in the best light,” the insider added.
But Biel remains on her husband’s side. For better and worse and all of that. “There have been some challenging moments lately, and she’s focused on moving forward,” the source told the outlet. “She’s the happiest when she’s able to focus on family life, along with her work when she chooses to take on projects.”
“She’s supportive of Justin, but she’s also not afraid to express when she’s disappointed in certain decisions. This was one of those moments,” the insider also said.
Biel and Timberlake married in 201 and have two children, Silas, born in 2015, and Phineas, born in 2020.
Pop star Timberlake was first arrested after leaving a restaurant with friends on June 18, 2024. “Guys, I’m just following my friends back to my house,” Timberlake says on the video, right after being pulled over. In a line that went viral online, in response to being asked if he’s visiting the area, Timberlake responds, “Yeah, I’m on tour … I’m on a world tour.”
When asked to clarify, he adds, “It’s hard to explain … umm … I’m Justin Timberlake.”
Timberlake is then asked to get out of the vehicle, with the officer indicating he’s trying to make sure the singer is okay to drive. As the police officer performs sobriety tests, Timberlake comments, “These are, like, hard tests.”
A plea deal was reached regarding this case, with Timberlake pleading guilty to a lesser offense. He has previously tried to block the release of the police body cam footage. On March 2, Timberlake filed a petition in Suffolk County Supreme Court, alleging that releasing the police body camera footage of his arrest would invade his privacy, according to court documents reviewed by People.
“Public dissemination of this footage would cause severe and irreparable harm to [Timberlake’s] personal and professional reputation, subject [Timberlake] to public ridicule and harassment, and serve no legitimate public interest,” the petition read.
On March 20, the singer reached a settlement with the Sag Harbor Village Police Department and local officials, agreeing to the release of a redacted version of the footage that “does not constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.”
