When the former prince Andrew was arrested, a lot of people were surprised. And they were further shocked by King Charles putting out a statement saying that the law should take its course. This is mostly because, even though Charles previously stripped his brother of his titles and evicted him from Royal Lodge, people believe that he has been protecting him for many years, as Queen Elizabeth did before.

But now RadarOnline is reporting that the relationship between the two is “beyond repair.” Royal biographer Andrew Lownie recently told Hello about the two: “I don’t think we’ll see Andrew at Charles’s funeral.”

And tensions reportedly existed way before this recent arrest. “Andrew resented Charles. He felt that he could do a better job. Charles resented Andrew. He felt that Andrew was allowed to do things he couldn’t do.”

That last part is probably right. As the heir to the throne, more eyes are on you.

Lownie also added, “Andrew is not a forgiving type. He feels that Charles has thrown his family under a bus to cover the problem.”

King Charles released a statement right after Andrew’s arrest, saying, “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.”

He added, “In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”

And royal author Robert Jobson thinks the King feels betrayed by revelations from the Epstein Files. “In around 2013 or 2014, Charles and Andrew had a massive conversation about Epstein, and Andrew gave him his complete and utter assurance that he had done nothing wrong,” he said. “He gave unequivocal reassurances.”

The brothers have, reportedly, never been close. Charles’ former butler Grant Harrold, said, “I don’t remember the King ever being particularly close to Prince Andrew. The royal household always knows what’s coming. I think the King probably had an inkling that something was wrong.”

“That’s why the King took such drastic measures and removed his titles,” he added.

Very recently, Charles made it a point not to meet with his brother even though he was very close to where Andrew is now staying. RadarOnline reported early in March that Charles was seen at Sandringham and attended church nearby, but did not visit his brother at Wood Farm.

“The King understands better than anyone how quickly even the smallest gesture can be magnified when it involves the royal family. If he were seen visiting Andrew – even privately – it would immediately become the dominant headline and reignite the entire controversy,” a royal source said.

“In the current climate, any face-to-face meeting would almost certainly be interpreted by the public as a show of solidarity, whether that was the intention or not.”
