In the middle of the investigation into the former prince Andrew for suspicion of misconduct in public office and the reports that his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, is also heavily featured in the Epstein files, a lot of questions have been asked about Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Will they retain their titles? Will they continue to represent the royal family?

Can they even separate themselves from the actions of their parents, considering the Epstein files seem to indicate the two might have met with Epstein alongside their mother right after the convicted sex offender was released from jail? Especially in light of allegations that their father might have asked friends to give money to Beatrice and Eugenie, reportedly in exchange for privileged information?

Recent reports have indicated that any public-facing appearances by Beatrice and Eugenie representing the British royal family would be scaled back. The two were, reportedly, not invited to attend Royal Ascot this year. And according to those reports, this is mostly William’s decision.

On his podcast, The Lownie Report, royal expert Andrew Lownie said, “William, I think, is calling more of the shots now. So there’s definitely a change going on, and I get the sense also that there’s a bit of distancing even from the Sussexes, clearly from the Waleses… I think the decision to ban them from Ascot is interesting. The line that [Beatrice and Eugenie] are pushing is that they were never going to go to Ascot in the first place, and it does seem odd to be so public about this distancing.”

However, Closer is reporting that the two are not afraid of “pushing back hard.”They’re still struggling to believe that their uncle and cousin would really evict them but if that does come to pass it will be the spark that lights the fuse. There’s been some talk that they may resort to hiring lawyers and going to the press to make a stink.”

“They feel strongly that they have a right to hang on to their royal homes and their ties to the family. They both love having residences connected to royal palaces, for them it feels like home so of course they are hugely concerned and will use all the leverage they have to stand their ground.”

Closer’s source also added: “And, of course, there’s also the possibility that they could do a tell-all. That’s going to become a lot more likely if William goes after them. It’s certainly something they can use as a threat to try and get him to back off.”

This comes after RadarOnline had recently reported that the princesses would likely end up facing some consequences from their parents’ actions, despite the fact that the royal family tried to protect them at first. At this point, the scandal has become too big to contain. “There is a real concern that Prince William wants their heads on the chopping block as part of a harder line on which royals should remain publicly associated with the institution,” a source told the outlet. “Beatrice and Eugenie feel like they are living in horrific limbo. They have spent years carefully building respectable private lives, yet the fallout from their parents’ controversies keeps circling back to them.”
