Some of the scandals of the Trump administration are bizarre, to say the least. And the one involving Kristi Noem’s husband falls under that category. Ironically, it would not even be that big of a scandal if it were not for everything the administration has said and done about transgender people. As it stands, though, it’s no wonder it’s been reported everywhere.

The facts are these: pictures of Bryon Noem, the husband of former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, were published by The Daily Mail, showcasing him engaging in a bimbofication cross-dressing fetish. Byron Noem reportedly also sent explicit photos as well as nearly $25,000 to models. Byron refused to comment on the pictures, and the family released a statement that said, “The family was blindsided by this, and they ask for privacy and prayers at this time.”

But Rob Shuter is reporting that, despite the fact that Kristi Noem claims to have been blindsided, not everyone is buying that story. “That’s not how people are reading this,” one insider told Shuter’s Naughty But Nice substack. “There’s real skepticism.”

Insiders are claiming that the pictures point to a pattern, not something that has only happened once. “This wasn’t something that happened overnight,” the source added. “Which is why people are struggling with the idea she knew nothing.”

“When something this big surfaces, people start connecting dots,” the insider explained. “They ask what was visible, what was ignored — and what was understood.”

Ironically, the pictures come after rumors of an affair between Kristin Noem and longtime Trump loyalist Corey Lewandowski picked up steam. Rumors have swirled about the two for years, but the news really made the front page after Noem refused to deny the affair under oath while being questioned by the House Judiciary Committee.

Which takes us right back to Byron Noem, and suggestions that if Noem didn’t know, it’s because she wasn’t around enough. Or maybe she did know and was looking the other way, just as her husband was.

“Either she didn’t know,” the source told Shuter, “or she knew more than is being said publicly.”

Noem is no longer DHS Secretary, now serving as Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas, a security initiative. It’s not a cabinet position, but it’s still public-facing enough that she would have loved to avoid the publicity. But it’s not just that.

“This is no longer just about the scandal,” Shuter’s insider said. “It’s about credibility.” And about an administration full of individuals saying one thing and behaving completely differently behind the scenes and in private.

“The official story says one thing,” the source added, “But not everyone is convinced.”

What happens next with Noem’s job and her marriage? To be determined.
