Everyone has a history before they were married. It’s just that for most of us, those things never go public. Prince Harry, however, is not most of us. And now some of his text messages from before he even met his wife, Meghan Markle, are being disclosed as part of Associated Newspapers Limited’s defense in the civil lawsuit Prince Harry has against them.
Harry’s civil lawsuit against the company, which owns both the Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday, came with the disclosure of some personal messages he exchanged with Mail on Sunday reporter Charlotte Griffiths. And RadarOnline is reporting Markle was not pleased.

The prince had testified that he’d only briefly encountered Griffiths at a party and had not continued communicating with him after discovering she was a journalist, but the messages suggest communication went on for longer and was way more friendly than Harry indicated.
Sources tell the outlet, “This has led to Harry picking up the nickname ‘Flirty Harry’ because of the tone of those messages, and Meghan Markle is fuming that all of this is now doing the rounds.
“Meghan feels it is embarrassing and frustrating, especially given how hard they have worked to control their narrative, and now these old conversations are being picked apart publicly.”
Even though these messages were from way before Harry and Meghan met, the sources claim the Duchess of Sussex is not happy. “The fact that the messages come across as so playful and familiar has left Meghan particularly unhappy that this side of Harry is being highlighted in such a public way.”
In the messages, Harry is seen engaging in conversation with Griffiths, who at the time worked as deputy diary editor at the Mail on Sunday. The two joked about social events and mentioned mutual friends, with Griffiths referring to Harry as “Mr Mischief” and “H Bomb.” Harry, meanwhile, responded in a very casual manner.
“Mr mischief? How do I get that title … l was surely no worse than anyone else!!” he says at one point. And, after missing a party, “Just wish I could have been there … especially now that you’re there! Dou ever work?!!…. Hope you’re really well Griff … Miss our movie snuggles!!”
This is all part of Harry’s civil lawsuit against ANL for unlawful information gathering, including phone tapping and the use of private investigators. Final arguments in the case were presented on March 31, and the judge will announce his ruling at a later date.
Harry’s texts come amid renewed speculation that the prince and his father, King Charles, could meet again. The two met for the first time in years last September and have reportedly stayed in communication, but have not seen each other since. The King is said to be eager to see his grandchildren, and with Charles battling cancer, there seems to be an eagerness to make the meeting happen sooner rather than later.
